At present, WASO is implementing USAID funded HIV and AIDS combination prevention program (namely Sauti Program) for Key and Vulnerable populations in Temeke and Kinondoni districts. The organization works with the respective Municipal governments in responding to HIV crosscutting interventions. Under this program, the services provided include:
- Biomedical service:
HIV Test and Counseling-HTC (both, Provider and Client Initiated Counseling),
Cervical Cancer Screening
Clinical Services-provided mainly through referrals to public or private health facilities,
Gender Base Violence(GBV) service
Family Planning(FP) Services
Condoms promotion and distribution
Pre Exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) drugs (community based PrEp intervention)
Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) outreach (community based ART intervention) - Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) services
Peer Group Education (GE) on behavior change about HIV, Family Planning, and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
Peer Individual Education (IE)
GBV escorted referrals to Police Gender Desk etc. - Economic empowerment (WORTH intervention)
Sensitizing KPs on group saving and loan
Education to KPs on economic opportunities
Linking KPs to the local government for funding opportunities
